In short
This policy applies to the WavNerd application for macOS, distributed on the Mac App Store by Starn (bundle identifier fr.starn.wavnerd). It describes what the app does with information on your computer. It is written to be read, not to be survived.
None. WavNerd does not collect, transmit, sell or share any personal data, usage data, diagnostics, identifiers or crash reports. It contains no analytics frameworks, no advertising SDKs and no third-party code that reports back anywhere.
WavNerd makes no network requests at all. The application contains no networking code, so there is no connection over which your audio or your activity could be sent.
WavNerd records audio, so macOS will ask for permission to use your microphone the first time you press Record. That permission is used for one thing: capturing sound into the document you are editing, while you are recording.
Recorded audio is held in memory and written only to the file you choose to save. It is never uploaded, never analysed, and never shared with us or anyone else. You can withdraw microphone access at any time in System Settings ▸ Privacy & Security ▸ Microphone; the rest of the app keeps working without it.
WavNerd runs inside the macOS App Sandbox. It can read and write only the files you explicitly choose through the Open and Save panels — it cannot browse the rest of your disk. Audio you open and audio you export stay on the volumes you put them on.
WavNerd remembers a few preferences so it behaves the way you left it. These are stored locally in the standard macOS preferences for the app, are never transmitted, and contain nothing personal:
Deleting the app and its preferences removes all of it. Nothing survives elsewhere, because nothing was sent anywhere.
WavNerd embeds no third-party SDKs or services. Audio is processed entirely by frameworks built into macOS, running on your own machine.
If you obtained WavNerd from the Mac App Store, Apple handles your purchase and may collect information under its own privacy policy. That relationship is between you and Apple; we receive only anonymous, aggregated sales figures, which cannot identify anyone.
WavNerd is suitable for all ages and collects no data from anyone, including children under 13. There is no account to create, no profile to build and no content to submit.
Privacy laws such as the GDPR and the CCPA give you rights to access, correct, export or delete the personal data a company holds about you. We hold none, so there is nothing to request, rectify or erase. Should that ever change, this page will be updated before the change ships, and the effective date above will say so.
If WavNerd ever gains a feature that touches data — an optional cloud export, say — this policy will be revised to describe exactly what that feature does, with a new effective date, before the version reaches the App Store.
Questions about this policy, or about privacy in WavNerd, are welcome at appstore@starn.fr.
